America’s Physician Groups has issued a letter supporting the proposal by California Governor Gavin Newsom to create an Office of Health Care Affordability. As California faces increasing pressure to provide affordable health care and housing to its 40 million citizens, Governor Newsom has proposed to increase the public transparency of health care costs and quality and to strategically monitor the state’s healthcare system at all levels – from coverage, to workforce, to regional cost increases. APG’s policy letter outlines a number of suggestions to the Administration on the creation of an effective cost and quality transparency system.
